Goat Was Freezing in a Car Waiting for a 'Date' – Police Intervened
According to Izabela Niedźwiedzka from the Warmia-Masuria Police Department, Poland, for intervention in the goat case asked a woman, who concerned about the animal’s fate, dialled the emergency number of Kętrzyn’s Police.
Police patrol found the goat on a back seat of a Fiat Cinquecento parked in front of a grocery shop. The car was locked. Owner, who was under the influence, was found near the shop.
“Waldemar K. was surprised by police intervention. He tried to convince policemen that the goat often keeps him company because he is very lonely and that’s why he drives her literally everywhere,” said Niedźwiedzka.
Police reports that the owner said that he drove his goat for arranged “date” with a farmer-friend’s billy goat. Nevertheless, animals didn’t fancy each other, so disappointed owner decided to go with his friend and drink vodka, leaving the goat in the car. The police drove Waldemar K. with his charge to his farm in Sątoczno.
Police reminds that in accordance with the Animal Protection Act an animal’s owner have to provide it “the conditions for development and free living.” Leaving animal in a car during freezing weather or heat can be treated as cruel treatment. It is punishable by up to a year in prison.
